Shooting Stars Put on a Show, Thrashing Niger Tornadoes 4-1 in NPFL Match

Shooting Stars Football Club of Ibadan put on a dazzling display on Sunday as they magnificently defeated Niger Tornadoes FC of Minna with a resounding 4-1 victory in their 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 7 fixture.

Right from the opening minute, the hosts showed their determination and skill, striking the first blow with a goal from Ayobami Adekunle in the 17th minute.

The atmosphere in the Lekan Salami Stadium was electric as the home crowd eagerly anticipated more goals from their team.

However, the visiting team’s goalkeeper, Enaholo, proved to be a formidable obstacle, making remarkable saves that kept the hosts at bay.

But just as the heavens opened up, so did the tide of the game. Shooting Stars’ goalkeeper Chinedu Anozie made a costly error, allowing Ernest Okakwe to seize the opportunity and score the equalizer in the 35th minute.

Undeterred by the setback, Shooting Stars rose to the challenge as the second half kicked off. In a matter of seconds, Ayodele Bamidele swiftly restored their lead.

The momentum continued to swing in Shooting Stars’ favor as Gbolagade Adelowo extended their lead with a fantastic goal in the 64th minute. The icing on the cake came when substitute Kareem Ayinde sealed the victory with a goal in the 87th minute, bringing the final score to an emphatic 4-1.

With this impressive win, Shooting Stars have climbed to the second position on the 2023/2024 NPFL table, boasting 13 points from seven matches.

So far, they have secured four wins, one draw, and two losses. Their attacking prowess has seen them net 11 goals, while their defense has conceded nine goals.
