IGP Orders Immediate Distribution of Vehicles and Other Necessities for Guber Polls in Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo

In preparation for the off-cycle gubernatorial elections scheduled to take place on November 11, 2023, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has taken decisive action by ordering the immediate distribution of essential resources. This includes 220 operational vehicles, water cannons, armoured personnel carriers, helmets, bulletproof vests, and tear gas canisters to Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States.

The purpose of this strategic move is to ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming elections and maintain peace and order throughout the process. With these additional resources, the police force will be well-equipped to handle any potential challenges and provide effective security measures.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer at Force Headquarters, Abuja, emphasized the significance of this distribution in a recent release. It was revealed that the Inspector-General of Police had previously organized training sessions for police officers involved in election security management. Moreover, he sought approval from the federal government to provide the officers with allowances and other necessary support, enhancing their morale during operations.

The Inspector-General of Police, in his address, called upon all stakeholders in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States to prioritize peace, uphold the rule of law, and maintain law and order throughout the election period. He assured them of the heightened preparedness of the police force and other security agencies in preventing any unruly acts that could potentially disrupt the elections.
