The renowned 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has expressed his dismay at the Supreme Court’s indifferent handling of the serious allegations of forgery and identity theft against President Bola Tinubu.
Obi lamented that this apathy towards addressing such crucial issues would ultimately result in the Nigerian people bearing the brunt of the consequences.
During a world press conference held in Abuja on Monday, Obi vociferously criticized the Supreme Court’s ruling, perceiving it as a display of power aimed against the Nigerian populace.
The former Governor of Anambra State vowed to persist in his pursuit of hope and prosperity for all Nigerians, despite the setback.
Obi asserted, “The Supreme Court, in abandoning its role as a guardian of justice, has turned a blind eye to overwhelming evidence of election manipulation, technical glitches brushed off as insignificant, and alarming instances of forgery and identity theft.”
“These weighty allegations should never have been treated with such nonchalance. The Supreme Court has shifted a profound moral burden from the courtroom to the conscience of our nation. Our democracy is the unfortunate casualty of this courtroom spectacle.”
“This is an outright display of excessive force directed against the very Nigerian citizens who form the foundation of our constitutional power,” Obi added passionately.
Although his quest for justice alongside Datti, his running mate, had reached a conclusion, Obi proclaimed that this was just the beginning of their unwavering pursuit of hope for the ordinary Nigerian.
