The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has delivered a powerful call to action to Commanders and troops of the Nigerian Army (NA), urging them not to let the nation down in the escalating battle against security challenges across the country.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, made this statement on Monday, emphasizing that General Musa issued the charge after being briefed on the operational engagements of troops in different areas of the country at the Army Headquarters Operations Centre.

Responding to the briefing, General Musa commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, Principal Staff Officers, Field Commanders, and troops for their unwavering dedication and sacrifices. He emphasized that military service is a selfless commitment to humanity and should always support civilian authorities.

As per the statement, General Musa exhorted Commanders at all levels to demonstrate focus, commitment, and professionalism in leading their various commands and expediting the restoration of peace and stability in the country.

He urged them to lead by example, providing results-oriented leadership and mentorship to the junior leaders of the Nigerian Army.

Continuing his address, General Musa called on the troops of the Nigerian Army to remain resilient and prioritize jointness and inter-agency cooperation in their operations to effectively tackle security challenges.

Moreover, he assured the troops of the unwavering support of President Bola Tinubu, the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, and expressed gratitude for the President’s continuous interventions in the Armed Forces of Nigeria since assuming office.

Quoting General Musa, “We have a crucial task ahead, and we cannot afford to let our country down. We have the support of Mr. President and the entire nation.”

Concluding his address, he urged the troops to rally behind the lead agency during the upcoming elections and strictly adhere to the codes of conduct that guide troops’ roles during the polls.
