Nov 11 guber polls: INEC publishes details of 40 polling units where elections won’t hold

The Independent National (*11*) Commission (INEC) has revealed detailed info on 40 polling units where elections is not going to hold on Saturday.

Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, in an announcement issued Tuesday defined that two polling units in Bayelsa and 38 in Imo have been with out registered voters.

The nationwide commissioner added that 16 political events are sponsoring candidates for the election in Bayelsa State, whereas 18 events are sponsoring candidates in each Imo and Kogi states.

Olumekun famous that elections could be held in 10,470 polling units (excluding the 40 polling units with out registered voters).

He defined that every political social gathering is anticipated to appoint polling brokers for all of the polling units in addition to 649 Ward, 56 LGA and three State collation centres.

Olumekun mentioned: “In continuation of the Commission’s preparations for the three off-cycle Governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi States, the Commission is making available two publications on the forthcoming polls as follows:

“This publication contains an infographic summary of registered voters and Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) collected by Local Government Areas (LGAs) as well as the distribution of registered voters by gender, age group, occupation and disability.

“The publication also includes the list of candidates and detailed information on the two polling units in Bayelsa and 38 in Imo State without registered voters.

“The Commission has repeatedly said that elections will not hold in these polling units. No materials have been produced for these locations and no officials will be deployed to them.”

Olumekun famous that on the shut of the deadline for importing the listing of brokers to the INEC devoted portal by political events, 34,704 brokers have been uploaded for Bayelsa State, 65,274 for Imo State and 37,995 for Kogi State, making a complete of 137,973 polling and collation brokers for the three states.

He mentioned the detailed breakdown exhibits that not all of the events nominated brokers for the polling and collation centres throughout the states.

The nationwide commissioner mentioned some political events don’t have any polling unit or collation brokers in some states regardless of having candidates within the election.
