In a recent announcement, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State revealed that the state government, in collaboration with security agencies such as Operation Safe Haven, has finalized arrangements to facilitate the return of Southern Kaduna displaced communities to their original homelands.

Following a security council meeting in Kaduna, Governor Sani disclosed to the press, “The government will be assisting the displaced people to rebuild their ravaged communities wherever necessary.”

Accompanied by Major Generals AbdulSalam Abubakar and Valentine Okoro, who are the General Officers Commanding 3 Division and 1 Division of the Nigerian Army respectively, the governor assured that his administration is fully prepared to provide all essential support for the successful resettlement of the displaced communities.

Underscoring that combating insecurity is the foremost priority of his tenure, Governor Sani emphasized that addressing the security challenges is imperative for the realization of the government’s developmental objectives.

He further elaborated, “We have committed substantial resources to development, and we firmly believe that addressing the issue of insecurity is pivotal. As a government, we are committed to ensuring a secure environment for our people.”

Moreover, Governor Sani asserted, “We have made considerable progress and will persist in our fight against bandits, insurgents, and criminals in the Birnin Gwari and Southern Kaduna axis.”

Highlighting that the security reports indicate promising strides, Governor Sani reiterated the government’s unwavering support for the security agencies in terms of logistics and technology.

Furthermore, he affirmed the collaborative efforts with Operation Safe Haven, under the leadership of General AbdulSalam Abubakar, for the resettlement of the displaced communities. Emphasizing the fundamental human right to security and safety, Governor Sani emphasized the government’s unequivocal commitment to the safe return of all individuals affected by insecurity to their homes, as well as their responsibility to facilitate the reconstruction of the communities where necessary.

Major General AbdulSalam Abubakar, the GOC 3 Division and Commander of Operation Safe Haven, revealed plans for the commencement of the initial phase of resettlement involving 15 communities. He emphasized the significance of reinstating the affected communities to enable them to resume their socio-economic activities.

Major General Valentine Okoro, the GOC 1 Division, echoed the synergy between the government and security agencies to fortify the security architecture in the state, addressing any observed gaps to ensure a more robust security network. He further conveyed their commitment to counter the potent threat of banditry and intensify efforts to minimize its impact.

Looking ahead, the collaborative efforts are anticipated to lead to heightened security and enhanced cooperation amongst all stakeholders, fostering lasting peace and security for the people of Kaduna State.
