The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau’ Ahmed, has cautioned Corps Members to refrain from engaging in activities that could jeopardize their safety during their service year.
General Ahmed issued this warning while addressing Corps Members posted to the NYSC Orientation Camp in Dazingau, Nagere Local Government Area of Yobe State, as well as those in Gombe State Orientation Camp in Amada, both situated in North East Nigeria.
He urged the Corps Members to steer clear of any form of misconduct and urged them to remain vigilant about their security at all times.
“Don’t jeopardize your lives by travelling at night. Use approved motor parks and when it’s late, seek accommodation in Corpers Lodges, military barracks, or other secure places,” the DG emphasized.
The Director-General also urged the Corps Members to embrace the cultural heritage of their host communities and strive to foster national unity and integration as exemplary representatives of the NYSC.
The NYSC Yobe State Coordinator, Mrs. Hafsat Yerima, described the Corps Members to General Ahmed as disciplined and hardworking individuals who are prepared for the service year.
At the time of General Ahmed’s visit, a total of 1,143 Corps Members, including 671 males and 472 females, had been registered in the Yobe camp.
Likewise, the NYSC Gombe State Coordinator, Mr. Dawut Jidda, reported to the Director General that all 1,184 Corps Members, comprising 676 males and 508 females, had adjusted well to the structured camp life. He noted that both the Corps Members and Camp Officials were enthusiastic and working cohesively towards a successful orientation exercise.
The Director-General’s visit underscores the NYSC’s commitment to ensuring the welfare and security of Corps Members throughout their service year.
