The Nigeria Police Force has witnessed a strategic shakeup as the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has issued new posting and redeployment directives impacting 14 Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and 26 Commissioners of Police (CPs).
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, this move is in line with the Force’s commitment to maintaining a professionally competent, service-driven, rule-of-law compliant, and people-friendly Police Force that aligns with the recent elevation of senior officers to their next ranks.
Among the newly posted and redeployed AIGs are Ogundele Ayodeji for Zone 7, Abuja; Patrick Edung for Zone 11, Osogbo; Badru Lawal for Border Patrol FHQ; Bartholomew Onyeka for Zone 8, Lokoja; Suleiman Yusuf for DOPS, FHQ; and Idowu Owohunwa for FCID Annex Alagbon, Lagos, among others.
Similarly, the 26 newly posted/redeployed CPs include George Chuku for Benue; Ahmed Tijani for Jigawa; Dan Shawulu for Niger; Usman Hayatu for Gombe; Danjuma Aboki for Imo; Disu Rilwan for Rivers; Joseph Eribo for Taraba; Isyaku Mohammed for Osun; and Mohammed Barde for Safer Highways, FHQ, among others.
The I-G implored the newly posted/redeployed officers to align with the Force’s policies and support the government’s agenda for economic recovery and growth, as well as the socio-political development of the country. He emphasized the need for senior officers to uphold professionalism and diligent policing services for all officers and men under their command, while also fostering partnerships with relevant stakeholders to bring policing closer to the people. It is worth noting that these postings are effective immediately.
This move by the IGP reflects a proactive approach to enhancing the operational effectiveness and overall service delivery of the Nigeria Police Force.
