Israel strikes hit target in Syria in response to drone attack

The Israeli military on Friday said it attacked a target in Syria in response to an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, UAV, attack.

This was in response to an attack on a school building in the southern Israeli city of Eilat the day before.

“A short while ago, the IDF struck the organisation in Syria that carried out the launch of a UAV toward Eilat Thursday (yesterday).

“The UAV which hit a school in the city,’’ the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), said early on Friday.

“The IDF holds the Syrian regime fully responsible for every terror activity emanating from its territory.

“The IDF will respond severely to every aggression against Israeli territory,’’ the Israeli military added.

On Thursday, a school in the seaside resort town of Eilat was damaged by a drone of unknown origin.

On Thursday afternoon the IDF said it was reviewing the details of the incident.
