Tiv Association Advocates Peace Between Warring Leaders in Nasarawa State

The Tiv Development Association (TIDA), representing the Tiv indigenes in Nasarawa State, has called upon two eminent figures, Hon. Boniface Ifer and Hon. Peter Ahemba, to promptly reconcile their differences for the benefit of their people and the state at large.

The former Presidents of TIDA, Ifer and Ahemba, have been embroiled in disputes concerning issues affecting the Tiv community in the state.

Ifer accused Ahemba of neglecting the challenges faced by their people in the state following his recent appointment as the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to Governor Abdullahi Sule. However, Ahemba maintained that he had fulfilled his responsibilities as both a key stakeholder of the Tiv nation and an appointee of the Nasarawa State government.

In response to this discord, the current President of TIDA in the state, Hon. Solomon Chunku, issued a statement in Lafia, urging the Tiv stakeholders to cease their ongoing conflicts to avoid discord among the Tiv people in the state.

“As a leader committed to the unity of our people, regardless of political differences, I deeply disapprove of attacking individuals for partisan reasons.

“Every Nigerian citizen has the right to freedom of association, but it is essential to practice moral and ethical values that foster unity rather than division.

“TIDA will remain impartial in the affairs of our people and has initiated efforts to facilitate dialogue between the feuding parties.

“We urge the public to disregard any partisan publication purported to have originated from the TIDA President’s office. It should be noted that the document did not come from my office, and I did not authorize anyone to do so,” the statement emphasized.

The TIDA President reassured all Tiv indigenes in the state to remain calm, affirming that the dispute between Ifer and Ahemba will be resolved at the earliest opportunity.
