Smooth Commencement of Voting as Kogi State Election Kicks Off

Today marks the pivotal day for Kogi State as the commencement of voting is underway in various polling units across the 21 local government areas. Reports reveal a mixed picture regarding the arrival of electoral materials, with some areas enjoying an early start to the process while others are yet to kick off accreditation and voting.

At the 500 Unit open space, the electoral process was already in full swing at 9 am, setting an encouraging precedent for the day. Conversely, in Ganaja, the largest polling unit in Ajaokuta Local Government, voters were observed diligently searching for their names on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) registered list, indicating a slower start in this locality.

Meanwhile, in Lokoja, a palpable sense of anticipation enveloped almost all polling units, with electoral and security officials in attendance as prospective voters eagerly located their names on the list.

Across Ankpa, Idah, Omala, and Ofu, there were also reports of early arrivals of materials, laying the foundation for a promising start to the electoral process in these areas.

Similarly, in Kabba Bunu, Mopamuro, Yagba East, and Yagba West Local Government Areas, the early arrival of election materials was accompanied by the swift commencement of accreditation and voting, providing a positive outlook for the day’s proceedings.

At the time of compiling this report, the atmosphere across the State is reported to be peaceful, instilling hope among all political stakeholders for a continuation of this harmonious environment throughout the day.
