The Katsina State Police have successfully neutralized a notorious suspected kidnapper, Nazifi Ibrahim, aged 22, hailing from Unguwar Tsamiya village, Faskari Local Government Area of the state. This notable achievement was disclosed in a statement released by the police spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, on Saturday in Katsina.
ASP Abubakar Aliyu further disclosed that the operation led to the recovery of a significant cache of ammunition, marking a crucial victory in the fight against criminal elements in the state.
“On November 11, 2023, at about 03.30hrs, acting on actionable intelligence, suspected kidnappers armed with dangerous weapons, including AK 47 rifles, launched an invasion on a farm located on the outskirts of Yankara village,” stated Mr. Aliyu.
Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Faskari swiftly mobilized a joint team of police operatives, vigilante members, and officers of the Security Watch Corps to the scene.
According to Mr. Aliyu, the kidnappers, upon realizing the presence of the combined team, initiated gunfire on the operatives. However, the operatives responded effectively, compelling the terrorists to abandon their scheme and flee into the bush.
During the meticulous search of the scene, the police discovered the body of a neutralized suspected kidnapper, identified as Nazifi Ibrahim, 22, from Unguwar Tsamiya village, Faskari local government. Additionally, the recovery yielded 185 live rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 90 live rounds of 5.56mm M193 type 06 ammunition, and 13 AK-47 magazines concealed in a sack.
Efforts are currently underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects, as the investigation progresses. The State Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, has lauded the professionalism, synergy, and bravery displayed by the operatives during the operation.
CP Aliyu Abubakar-Musa also urged officers and DPOs in the state to sustain effective synergy with all pertinent security agencies in their respective domains. Furthermore, he enjoined the public to continue providing timely information on criminal activities to the police and other security agencies, as this collaboration is pivotal to purging the state of criminal elements.
Moreover, the police spokesperson urged the public to report any individual seen with injuries to the nearest police station or any other security outfit, as some of the terrorists escaped with gunshot wounds.
