Imo State Gubernatorial Election: PDP’s Anyanwu Raises Alarm Over Electoral Irregularities

Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, has voiced concerns over alleged electoral malpractices that marred Saturday’s election.

Addressing the media regarding reports from party agents in the field, Anyanwu raised accusations of ballot box snatching, vote buying, and other irregularities in certain polling units.

During an interview at his residence in Amaimo, Ikeduru Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo, Anyanwu called for the annulment of the poll results in areas where thuggery and violence reportedly disrupted the electoral process.

He further urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to focus their attention on Ikeduru LGA.

Anyanwu disclosed, “I have evidence that one of the thugs is a member of the House of Assembly. In the act of snatching the ballot boxes, the lawmaker’s Identity Card fell off, which I have in my possession. I implore INEC to review the available evidence and cancel the election results in the affected areas.”
