Imo Guber: Voting ends, sorting, counting commence

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, have begun sorting and counting of votes in Saturday’s governorship election in Imo State.

Media Talk Africa reports that voting ended in most polling units in Ehime Mbano council area of the state at about 4.30 pm.

At Umunumo Town School 08 , Central School Umueze I (010) and Central School Umueze II (011), sorting and counting of votes commenced by 4.50 pm.

Media Talk Africa however reports that out of over 700 registered voters in Central School Ogboama (09), Umuezeala community, in Ehime Mbano LGA, only 200 persons were accredited to vote, an indication of voter apathy.

In most polling many units monitored by Media Talk Africa on Saturday, accreditation of voters and voting commenced simultaneously at 08:30 am.

This followed the arrival of INEC officials at polling units with sensitive and non-sensitive materials.
