Imo State Gubernatorial Election: LP Party Agent Assaulted and Ejected from Collation Centre [VIDEO]

In a dramatic turn of events, chaos erupted at the state collation centre for the Imo gubernatorial election, as party agents clashed following the announcement of the election results from Orsu LGA.

The altercation escalated to the point where the Labour Party (LP) representative was physically assaulted and forcefully removed from the collation hall, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) agent was also escorted out.

According to the latest results from the LG, Governor Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured 18,003 votes, LP’s Athan Achonu garnered 813 votes, and Samuel Anyanwu of the PDP received 624 votes.

However, both the PDP and LP agents raised objections, alleging that no elections took place in the LGA and asserting that the reported figures were fabricated.

The disruption of the collation exercise led to intervention by the state returning officer, Abayomi Fashina, who called for order and urged the agents to take their seats.

Despite the plea for calm, a confrontation ensued among the agents, resulting in physical altercations that led to the ejection of the protesting party representatives from the collation hall.

This incident highlights the heightened tensions and contentious nature of the gubernatorial election, underscoring the need for a peaceful and transparent electoral process.
