Baze University Acting Vice-Chancellor Encourages Graduates to Embrace Self-Development

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Baze University, Professor Kathleen Okafor, has urged graduates to prioritise self-development, engage in professional associations, and enhance their digital skills to adapt to the dynamic workplace.

Prof. Okafor made this call during the institution’s 10th convocation ceremony in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria.

Emphasising the university’s expanded academic programmes, which grew from 72 in 2022 to 102, the Acting Vice-Chancellor also underscored the pivotal role of women in driving economic progress.

She further urged the graduates to actively participate in family and national initiatives, advocating for equity and fairness.

The convocation ceremony also honoured the late Justice Mohammed Bello and the late Hajiya Maryam Babangida with Honorary Doctorates.

Outstanding Achievements

Morenikeji Adebanjo, a 20-year-old Law graduate from Ogun State, emerged as the top performer among 388 undergraduate candidates at the ceremony.

She attained a remarkable Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.81 out of 4.0.

Oseloka Zikora, a master’s student in Mass Communication, excelled with a perfect 5.0 CGPA among 225 candidates.

During the convocation ceremony in Abuja, Adebanjo expressed gratitude for the collective support from her lecturers, family, and the institution, pledging to give back to society through mentorship and leveraging law for positive impact.

Roosevelt Ken-Ebeku, the Student Union Government (SUG) President, commended the university’s management for fostering diverse social activities.
