The Nigerian Army has announced that soldiers from 1 Division have successfully neutralised three bandits and confiscated weapons in Kaduna. Lt-Col Musa Yahaya, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 1 Division, confirmed the occurrence through an official statement in Kaduna.

According to Yahaya, the operation was conducted in response to credible intelligence, as troops of the 1 Division Nigerian Army and Operation Whirl Punch undertook a clearance mission in the Maro – Chibiya forest area in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State on November 12th.

During the operation, the troops engaged the armed bandits with superior firepower, leading to the neutralisation of one bandit and the dispersal of the remaining assailants into the surrounding forest with gunshot wounds, the army stated.

The troops also seized one AK-47 rifle, one locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, four 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, and one mobile phone during the operation, as per the army’s report.

Yahaya further disclosed that on November 10th, during a clearance operation at Kawara and Filin Jalo villages in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, troops from the division and Operation Whirl Punch encountered bandits at Kawara forest.

“In the ensuing firefight, our troops successfully neutralised one bandit and recovered one AK-47 rifle, loaded with 30 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, a motorcycle, and a techno phone, while others managed to escape with gunshot wounds,” Yahaya stated.

The successful operations in Kaduna demonstrate the commitment of the Nigerian Army to combatting insecurity and restoring peace in the region.
