Katsina State Government Imposes Night Gathering Ban to Curb Banditry

The Katsina State Government has taken a decisive step in the fight against banditry by imposing a ban on large gatherings at night. This prohibition encompasses religious, social, and other nocturnal assemblies across the state. The announcement, delivered by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Bala Salisu-Zango, emphasizes the need for this restriction to ensure public safety.

“The ban extends to all sizable religious and social gatherings, with the exception of obligatory prayers,” stated Commissioner Salisu-Zango. Furthermore, he outlined the protocol for seeking permission for daytime events. “In the event that such gatherings are necessary during daylight hours, organizers must obtain permission from the Police Divisional Officer within the respective local government area,” he added.

Effective immediately, this prohibition is a testament to the government’s commitment to safeguarding public welfare. Commissioner Salisu-Zango urged strict adherence to these directives, cautioning that any infringements would be met with the full force of the law.
