The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has officially inaugurated the newly appointed members of the state’s statutory commissions, marking a significant step in reshaping the governance landscape.
In a statement released by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, it was revealed that the swearing-in ceremony was presided over by the Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi, who represented the Governor at the event.
This momentous occasion comes on the heels of the confirmation of the nominees, which was swiftly carried out by the State Assembly following their nomination by Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The confirmation process, which took place during the plenary session at the state House of Assembly in Osogbo, saw the Majority Leader of the House, Babajide Kofoworola, moving the motion for confirmation, a motion that was then seconded by Jeremiah Awoyeye, representing Ife Central State Constituency.
Addressing the significance of the emergency session, the Speaker of the Parliament, Adewale Egbedun, emphasized the need to prevent any vacuum in the State Statutory Commissions, underscoring its vital role in the state’s growth and development.
He stressed, “To enhance seamless operations in these Commissions, it is very important and urgent for the House to screen and possibly confirm the nominees forwarded by the Executive Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke to fill the vacancies created by the dissolution.”
“The credentials of the nominees have earlier been screened by an ad hoc Committee constituted by the House of Assembly for that purpose,” he added.
Moreover, Egbedun urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to proceed with the swearing-in of the confirmed chairmen, members, and secretaries, marking the official commencement of their crucial roles within the commissions.
The newly sworn-in officials include chairmen and members of key commissions such as the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, Osun State Judicial Service Commission, Osun State Civil Service Commission, and Osun State House of Assembly Service Commission.
They have been called upon to dedicate themselves to their duties and consistently uphold due process and existing laws in the discharge of their responsibilities.
