First Lady of Nigeria Supports Fallen Heroes’ Families with N427m Cheques

On Tuesday in Abuja, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, national chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), presented cheques worth over N427 million to widows and orphans of fallen heroes from the Armed Forces. The presentation is part of the Social Investment Programme under the RHI.

Tinubu made it clear that the initiative aims not only to honour the sacrifices of the fallen heroes but also to empower their wives and children who have endured so much. A total of 1,709 widows and orphans will be empowered with N250,000 each to support their families and start businesses.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Tinubu emphasised the strength and resilience of the widows, acknowledging that they are survivors who have shown extraordinary courage in the face of adversity. She urged the older widows to provide emotional support to the younger ones and presented a collective sum of N427,250,000 to the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA).

Tinubu empathised with the military wives, recognising the challenges they face, including uncertainty, sacrifice, and the lurking awareness of risk. She commended the women for their unwavering support and love and thanked them for their sacrifices for the nation.
