Organised Labour in Nasarawa State Calls for Full Compliance with Nationwide Strike

Labour unions in Nasarawa State have instructed their affiliates to ensure total compliance with the nationwide strike starting from Wednesday, November 15, 2023.

The national headquarters of the unions ordered all state councils to begin an indefinite strike in response to the brutalization of the National President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, in Imo state.

Voice of Nigeria reported that the leaders of NLC and Trade Union Congress (TUC) in the state convened an emergency meeting on Tuesday, directing all affiliates to withdraw their services indefinitely.

Chairman of NLC, Comrade Ayuba Okor, and his TUC counterpart, Mohammed Doma, affirmed that the decision was in compliance with the directive from their national body.

Furthermore, they directed all affiliates to mobilise their members in compliance and await further directives from the national leadership through the state leadership of the union.

The leaders emphasized that monitoring and enforcement teams were already activated and would visit offices on Wednesday to ensure a total shutdown.

The leaders of the various affiliates have pledged their commitment to comply with the directive of the National Headquarters of the union.

When a Voice of Nigeria correspondent visited Ministries, Departments, and Agencies in the state, it was observed that workers partially adhered to the strike by offering skeletal services.
