Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs Postpones Local Government Stakeholders’ Conference

The Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs has made the decision to postpone its highly anticipated conference for local government administration stakeholders. The postponement is attributed to what the ministry terms as “unforeseen circumstances”.

The announcement was made by Mr Zaphaniah Jisalo, the Minister of Special Duties, in a statement released by Anastasia Ogbonna, Head of Press and Public Relations in the ministry, on Wednesday in Abuja.

According to Jisalo, a new date for the conference will be scheduled and communicated to all relevant parties. The Annual Conference, which typically convenes key stakeholders and government officials involved in local government administration, is designed to tackle pivotal national issues and facilitate the extension of effective governance to the grassroots level,” he stated.

Initially intended to take place from November 16 to 17 under the theme, ‘The Trajectory of Local Government Administration in Nigeria and the Institutional Challenges’, the event has been deferred. The rationale behind this deferral might be linked to the ongoing strike action by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and the Trade Union Congress, TUC.
