The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General YD Ahmed, has issued a stern warning to corps members, urging them to steer clear of any form of misconduct that could jeopardize their service year.

In a recent address to corps members during his visit to the NYSC Kano State Orientation Camp in Kusallah Dam Karaye and Katsina State Orientation Camp, General Ahmed emphasized that violators of NYSC byelaws and national laws would face appropriate sanctions.

Congratulating the corps members on the successful completion of their academic studies, General Ahmed stressed the importance of proper dressing in NYSC uniforms, highlighting that failure to adhere to the dress code would result in disciplinary actions.

“You must always dress impeccably, particularly when in NYSC uniforms. Wherever you are assigned, it is imperative to show respect for the culture and traditions of the host community,” the Director-General remarked.

He further cautioned, “NYSC will not tolerate any form of indiscipline. Refrain from the use of illicit substances, hooliganism, cybercrimes, and other societal vices that could land you in trouble. Use this service year to enhance personal development.”

During the Director-General’s visit, the NYSC Kano State Coordinator, Hajiya Halima Abdulkareem Abubakar, presented a report highlighting the corps members’ high levels of integrity, commitment, and unwavering loyalty to the Scheme.

At the time of the visit, the Kano camp housed a total of 1,734 corps members, comprising 871 males and 863 females.

Similarly, the Katsina State Coordinator, Hajiya Aisha Mohammed, revealed that a collaborative effort involving 348 camp officials, including 167 NYSC staff and 181 personnel from other partner agencies, is underway to ensure the success of the orientation exercise, where 1,292 corps members, consisting of 686 males and 606 females, are participating.

“The corps members are in high spirits and eager to make meaningful contributions to national development,” she emphasized.
