The Nigerian Senate has given the green light to the appointment of Dr. Aminu Maida as the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC).
The approval came following the presentation of the report by Sen. Bilbis Ikra (APC-Zamfara), the chairman of the Committee on Communication, which was subsequently endorsed by the Committee of the Whole on Thursday.
During the presentation, Ikra urged the Senate to consider President Bola Tinubu’s endorsement of Maida’s confirmation as the NCC Chairman, stating that the request complies with the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) Establishment Act, 2003, Section 8 (1).
Ikra emphasized that Maida had undergone thorough vetting by the committee, including receiving all necessary security clearances, requisite training, extensive work experience, and demonstrating commendable competence and regulatory proficiency that would further fortify the NCC’s trajectory of success.
In view of this, he fervently appealed to the Senate to ratify the appointment.
Subsequently, the Senate gave its nod to Aminu Maida’s appointment as the NCC’s executive vice chairman.
