EFCC Chair Encourages Youths to Embrace Alternatives to Corruption

In an inspiring address to the Batch C, Stream 1 NYSC Corps members in Rivers State, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, fervently urged Nigerian youths to recognise that there are commendable alternatives to engaging in corrupt and criminal activities.

Represented by Ogar Sunday, the acting Head of Public Affairs Department of the Port Harcourt zonal command, Olukoyede stressed the importance of redirecting youthful vigour towards constructive self-motivation and entrepreneurial progression.

Emphasising the need for a paradigm shift, Olukoyede underscored the imperative for young people to distance themselves from actions that compromise ethical standards, urging them to instead harness their creativity and innovative spirit to contribute to the economy and combat corrupt practices.

“Those who opt for shortcuts often find themselves at a dead end. It is critical to instill a new mindset among youths in various regions including Kaduna, Makurdi, Uyo, Keffi, Ilorin, Maiduguri, and Benin City,” remarked Olukoyede.

The EFCC chair further stated, “Youths need to realise that viable alternatives to corruption exist, such as fostering a positive self-drive, embracing entrepreneurship, nurturing creativity, and fostering a development-oriented mindset.”
