General Lagbaja Highlights the Vital Role of Regimental Sergeant Majors in the Advancement of the Nigerian Army

In a recent address at the Second Regimental Sergeant Majors Convention 2023, held in Ibadan, Oyo State, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja emphasized the indispensable role of Regimental Sergeant Majors (RSMs) in the advancement of the Nigerian Army.

Lieutenant General Lagbaja expressed his apprehension regarding the diminishing quality of RSMs within the Nigerian Army at a certain point. He stressed the necessity of initiatives such as the RSM’s Convention as a proactive measure to address this concern.

According to a statement by the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations 2 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Charles Ekeocha, Lieutenant General Lagbaja urged participants to actively apply the invaluable lessons, contributions, and pertinent ideas discussed during the convention to their respective formations and units.

Nigerian Army Convention 2023

During the convention, Major General Jimmy Akpor, the Army Chief of Administration, commended the Chief of Army Staff for providing the platform for the convention. He underscored the timeliness of the convention, emphasizing its role in enhancing personnel’s administrative proficiency.

The convention featured lectures focusing on troops’ motivation, mentorship skills, emotional intelligence, and leadership.
