The recent verdict by the Appeal Court concerning the Zamfara State governorship election has been described by Governor Dauda Lawal as a temporary setback for his administration.

Following the declaration of the governorship election as inconclusive by a three-judge panel, a rerun has been ordered in three local government areas: Maradun, Birnin-Magaji, and Bukkuyum.

In a statement released by the governor’s spokesman, Sulaiman Bala Idris, it was emphasized that Governor Lawal’s election was a result of the discontent with the prevailing conditions in the state.

The statement further highlighted that the outcome of the governorship election on March 18 accurately mirrored the people’s yearning for a transformation towards positive development and progress.

Governor Lawal expressed, “The ruling by the Appeal Court is a temporary setback. However, I remain optimistic that the collective decision of the people will ultimately prevail,” as stated in the released report.

He added, “We will emerge victorious. Our unwavering determination and steadfast commitments leave no room for doubt or fear.”

Furthermore, he reassured the people, saying, “We encountered numerous challenges during the last election. But let me assure our people that we are fully committed to going to great lengths to uphold this widely acclaimed mandate.

“I implore the people of Zamfara State to remain calm. Our legal team is diligently reviewing the verdict, and we will take the necessary measures to attain a just outcome.”
