Internet titan Google has declared its intention to commence the permanent deletion of dormant Gmail accounts starting from December 1.
In a recent blog post, Google stipulated that an account would be classified as inactive if the user has not logged in or engaged in any activity for a period of two years.
“Google products retain the right to remove your data if your account has remained idle for a period of 2 years.
“As a result of this policy, December 1, 2023, marks the earliest potential date for the deletion of a Google Account,” the announcement stated.
It is important to note that this policy exclusively pertains to personal accounts.
The technology behemoth identifies activities such as account login, utilization of Google Drive, email correspondence, viewing or sharing YouTube content, app downloads, and photo sharing as valid user engagements.
