Sultan of Sokoto Unveils Reconstructed Adogba Mosque in Ibadan

The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, officially opened the redeveloped Adogba Mosque, also known as the Organisation of Tadamul Muslimeen Mosque, during a ceremony in Ibadan. The mosque had been demolished to facilitate the construction of a bus terminal.

Accompanied by the Emir of Kano, Aminu Bayero, the Sultan emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, regardless of their religious beliefs. He urged individuals to prioritize living harmoniously with one another, emphasizing the significance of peaceful cohabitation in society.

Addressing the congregation, the Sultan stressed the need for peaceful coexistence, stating, ”We do not care if you believe in God or not, but let us live peacefully. Let me do what I should do as a Muslim, while you do your own as dictated by whatever religion you choose, because the matter is between you and God, not with anybody.”

Furthermore, he called on the Muslim community to take ownership of the reconstructed facility, highlighting the responsibility of maintaining the mosque and not solely relying on the government for its upkeep.

In response, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling the promise made when the original Adogba Mosque, situated at Iwo Road, was demolished. He assured all residents, regardless of their religious backgrounds or geographical origins, that his administration would ensure fairness and equity for all.

“The growth and economic development of the state remains a priority for my administration. My government will continue to embark on infrastructural projects to enhance the socio-economic development of the state,” Governor Makinde emphasized.
