Appeal Court Upholds Bala Mohammed’s Victory as Bauchi State Governor

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld the election of Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, dismissing the appeal brought by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Sadique Abubakar.

Governor Bala, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was declared the winner of the March 18 governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Following the rejection of the election outcome by the APC candidate, the Bauchi State Governorship Election Tribunal had previously upheld Governor Bala’s victory, dismissing the petition brought by Sadique Abubakar.

However, Sadique pursued the matter to the appeal court, maintaining that the March 18 poll was characterized by irregularities.

On Friday, a unanimous ruling by a panel of three justices affirmed the tribunal’s verdict, further solidifying Governor Bala Mohammed’s position as the legitimate winner of the election.
