The Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced a deadline of December 27th for the registration of pilgrims intending to participate in the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This move comes as the FCTA intensifies preparations for the upcoming pilgrimage.
The Director of FCTA Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Malam Abubakar Adamu Evuti, revealed this information during a courtesy visit to the Chairman of FCT Council of Chiefs and Ona of Abaji. The purpose of the visit was to sensitize traditional institutions and other stakeholders about the registration deadline for the next Hajj exercise.
Evuti emphasized that the Board is actively engaging with stakeholders to educate them about new policies introduced by the Saudi Arabian government and relevant agencies pertaining to the 2024 Hajj exercise. He also urged residents of the territory who are considering performing Hajj through the board to ensure early deposit of the minimum amount before the stipulated deadline.
Furthermore, Evuti called upon relevant stakeholders in the Hajj operation to assist the Board in disseminating this crucial information to ensure that residents are well-informed, especially considering the changes in policies for the entire Hajj exercise mandated by Saudi Arabia.
Prospective Intending Pilgrims are required to make a bank draft deposit of a minimum of Four Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N4, 500,000.00) to secure their seat for the exercise. This can be done across the six area councils and the head office of the Board located at the central business district, Abuja.
According to Evuti, the Board is committed to enhancing services for the registered Intending Pilgrims through new strategies introduced for the forthcoming Hajj exercise.
On a similar note, the Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) council of Chiefs and the Ona of Abaji, Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, pledged their support for the FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board in sensitizing Intending Pilgrims for early registration for next year’s Hajj. Alhaji Baba Yunusa stressed the pivotal role of the traditional institution in mobilizing intending pilgrims to participate in the exercise, considering their proximity to the grassroots.
He also highlighted the importance of involving the traditional leaders and government agencies in disseminating information on policies aimed at improving the citizens’ lives due to their closeness to the people at the grassroots.
Therefore, he urged residents of the territory to ensure timely compliance with the registration for next year’s Hajj before the deadline set by the authority, to fulfill their religious obligation.
