A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ilyasu Musa Kwankwaso, has advised the ousted Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, against pursuing the nullification of his election at the Supreme Court.
Kwankwaso suggested that Yusuf should gracefully accept defeat and consider contesting for the governorship election in Kano State in 2027.
Following the ruling of the Appeal Court that ousted Yusuf and declared the APC governorship candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, as the winner, Kwankwaso expressed his opinion.
He emphasized that the evidence presented against Yusuf at the Appeal Court was compelling, and therefore, he should refrain from prolonging the legal battle.
Speaking to journalists in Kano, Kwankwaso remarked,
“It would be another mission impossible for him to pursue the case at the Supreme Court, considering the overwhelming evidence that led to his loss at both the Tribunal and the Appeal Court. Consequently, he should take a break until 2027.”
Furthermore, he praised Gawuna’s victory, highlighting it as a triumph of democracy and the rule of law.
“Governor Yusuf should have interpreted the signs correctly and analysed the substantial evidence that led to his removal by the Tribunal. These pieces of evidence are persuasive and would be challenging for the court to overlook in its judgment,” Kwankwaso asserted.
“As a fellow compatriot, I urge him to refrain from taking his defeat to the Supreme Court and understand that this is not his time to lead the state,” he added.
