The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has affirmed that the Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, who recently faced defeat at the Appeal Court, will also be unsuccessful at the Supreme Court.

Ganduje made this assertion while speaking to journalists at his residence in Asokoro, Abuja, emphasizing his unwavering confidence in the ultimate triumph of the APC.

The ruling by the Appeal Court in Abuja, which upheld the decision of the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal to annul Governor Yusuf’s election under the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), saw the declaration of the APC candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, as the rightful victor of the March 18 governorship election in Kano.

In delivering the judgment on Yusuf’s appeal, the three-member panel led by Justice M.A Adumeh cited the NNPP candidate’s lack of qualification to contest the election, highlighting his non-membership status within the party at the time of the election.

In response to the Appeal Court’s decision, Governor Yusuf expressed optimism in reclaiming his victory at the apex court. However, Ganduje, buoyed by the court’s ruling, unequivocally stated that the APC candidate would emerge victorious at the Supreme Court as well.

He remarked, “I express gratitude to Allah for this pivotal judgment and commend the judiciary for upholding the principles of justice amid the numerous distractions encountered throughout the case.

“Undoubtedly, this is a triumph for democracy, APC, and Kano State. It signifies the resilience of democracy in Nigeria.

“Should they choose to proceed to the Supreme Court, it is within their democratic rights. Equally, we are fully prepared to face them at the Supreme Court, and God willing, we will secure victory there too.”
