APC Cries Foul Over Alleged PDP Plan to Manipulate Taraba’s Local Government Poll

In a dramatic turn of events, the Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has sounded the alarm over purported schemes by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to manipulate the local government councils election slated for today, Saturday.

The state chairman of APC, Barrister Ibrahim Tuktur El-Sudi, has made grave allegations, suggesting that the PDP is orchestrating strategies to compromise the elections in their favor.

El-Sudi claimed that the ruling party is intricately weaving plans to leverage the State Independent Electoral Commission and security agencies to tilt the exercise in their direction, stating, “the PDP is desperate to clinch victory through illicit means such as vote-buying, intimidation, and collusion with officials of the Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission (TSIEC) and security agencies.”

He has fervently urged APC supporters scattered across the state to maintain composure and turn out in large numbers to cast their votes unequivocally for the party’s candidates across all levels.

Upon reaching out to the TSIEC chairman, Dr. Philip Duwe, he reiterated the Commission’s commitment to ensuring an equitable playing field for all candidates, irrespective of their political affiliation.

Additionally, the state police command, through its spokesperson, Abdullahi Usman, disclosed that the Commissioner had cautioned the police force to abstain from actions that could disrupt the smooth conduct of the election.

At the time of compiling this report, the distribution of voting materials to polling units across Jalingo, the state capital, and its environs had not commenced.
