Zimbabwe Coach, Baltemar Brito, Fearless ahead of Clash with Super Eagles in 2026 WCQ

Zimbabwe’s head coach, Baltemar Brito, has fearlessly declared that the Warriors are ready to take on the Super Eagles in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

Brito, a Brazilian tactician who assumed the role of leading the Warriors less than three months ago, will be orchestrating his team’s battle against the Super Eagles at the Huye Stadium in Butare this Sunday afternoon.

The Southern Africans are set to enter the game as underdogs, facing the Super Eagles who boast some of the best players on the continent within their ranks.

In a bold statement, Brito emphasized his team’s readiness to confront the visitors, stating, “At this level, all opponents play to win. Even we [Zimbabwe] will play for a win against Nigeria.” This was expressed in a video posted on the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) X handle.

He further added, “People will expect revenge from Nigeria because they drew their first game [against Lesotho]. But they are not playing against a small or weak nation. They will come strong, but we will come strong too. We are here to face them.”
