The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu, has issued a strong warning to Nigerians to remain vigilant against deceptive humanitarian and child support schemes.

In a statement released on Sunday by her media aide, Rasheed Olanrewaju Zubair, the minister emphasized the need for caution, citing a fraudulent child support scheme titled ‘Federal Government’s ₦50,000 Child Support Fund for all Nigerian parents’.

Dr. Edu categorically debunked the authenticity of the purported scheme, asserting that it did not originate from the Ministry. She further clarified that all social intervention schemes by the Ministry are meticulously documented and publicly accessible.

Addressing the public, she stated, “The so-called ‘Child Support Scheme’ is a sham and does not align with any of the Ministry’s initiatives.

“The general populace is hereby cautioned against placing any credence in the fake scheme advertisement and associated links, as these deceitful tactics aim to mislead and defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.”

The statement revealed that security agencies have initiated measures to expose the individuals responsible for perpetrating this nefarious scam.

“Nigerians are urged to disregard the link to avoid falling victim to the exploitation of their hard-earned money,” the statement added.
