Ogunbote: Triumph in the Face of Kano Pillars’ Grit

Shooting Stars’ handler, Gbenga Ogunbote, has admitted that Kano Pillars posed a stern challenge for his team during their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash on Sunday.

The Oluyole Warriors clinched a hard-fought 1-0 victory at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba Ibadan, with Kareem Ayinde’s second-half strike proving the difference.

Ogunbote expressed that the victory was hard-earned, asserting, “It was a good one for us, it didn’t come that easy, we shouldn’t have expected it to come easier than it did.”

The former Rangers and Sunshine Stars coach highlighted the resilience of the opposition, stating, “It’s a team that wants a point on the road, if you listen to their coach in his interview before the game, you will realise that he came for at worse a point.”

Despite the grueling encounter, Ogunbote believed that his team had opportunities to seal the game in the first half. He regretfully mentioned, “Unfortunately, we were too much in a hurry, we would have made the difference in the first half, but be it as it may, the important thing is that the three points are in the bag.”

Looking ahead, the Ibadan club is gearing up for their next fixture, an away match against Lobi Stars.
