Gov Lawal’s Pledge to Transform Education in Zamfara State

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has made a firm commitment to rejuvenate the education sector in the state, aiming to restore its former glory.

Lawal made this announcement during the official launch of the construction and renovation of schools in Zamfara State. The governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, emphasized the government’s dedication to prioritizing education in fulfillment of their campaign promises.

According to the governor’s spokesperson, the initiation of these projects is in line with the State of Emergency declared in the education sector. Lawal, while presenting award letters for school construction and renovation, expressed his unwavering commitment to completely revamp the education sector.

He declared, “The flag-off exercise encompasses the construction and renovation of classrooms, wash facilities, school fencing, and the provision of furniture for students and teachers in our schools, in line with the state of emergency declared by the government.”

Elaborating further, the statement revealed, “The projects will be undertaken by credible local contractors and will include the complete rehabilitation of the dilapidated schools across the 14 Local Government Areas. Additionally, new projects will be established, including Tsangaya schools across the three zones of Anka, Kaura Namoda, and Gusau.”

“To facilitate these vital projects, the government has allocated a sum of ₦4,346,450,209.19. The selected project contractors have been carefully vetted based on their integrity and extensive experience in handling similar projects.”

The comprehensive project aims to construct and renovate 245 schools across the 14 local government areas in the state. Furthermore, 9,542 two-seater desks will be provided for pupils and students in schools across the 14 local government areas.
