Kidnapped Cross River APC council chairman still in captivity

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ikom LGA in Cross River State, Matthew Egomo, who was kidnapped with his son on 19 November, has not been rescued.

They were kidnapped along Ikom Ogoja Road close to Afi River in Nde Ward about 15 km from Ikom Local Government Area headquarters.

Sources said the police were able to neutralise the five-man gang which kidnapped the APC chairman.

State Police Command PRO SP Irene Ugbo, who is currently on leave said she was not aware of the incident but promised to find out.

Meanwhile, kidnappers are reported to have received over N50 million from another victim, a proprietor of a nursery school who was kidnapped in the same Ikom LGA a few weeks ago.
