Umahi Expresses Confidence in Successor Nwifuru at Stakeholder Dinner

The former governor of Ebonyi State and Minister of Works, David Umahi, has reaffirmed his unwavering support for his successor, Governor Francis Nwifuru, at a recent gathering of stakeholders.

Umahi, speaking at a dinner hosted by Nwifuru in honour of former executive council members at the old Government House in Abakaliki, expressed his contentment with the transition of power. He stated that he left office five months ago after thoroughly completing his tenure.

Emphasizing the challenges encountered during his governorship, Umahi acknowledged having made adversaries while ensuring Nwifuru’s succession in the upcoming 2023 general election. He asserted that no National Assembly member from the state would oppose Nwifuru, cautioning that any such attempt would result in suspension.

Umahi also underscored his anticipation for reaping the benefits of his efforts and advised the governor to be wary of certain individuals. He remarked, “We will discern the true loyalty of individuals during the upcoming election, distinguishing the genuine APC members.”

In response, Nwifuru commended Umahi for his role in modernizing Ebonyi State and declared his unbreakable bond with the former governor. He asserted, “Our detractors will attempt to cause disruptions, but we remain resolute against their schemes.”
