The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has urged institutions in the state to warmly embrace members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to them for primary assignments.
Delivering this message at the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream 1 Orientation Course at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp, Asaya, Governor Bello was represented by Mrs. Baje Janet, the Permanent Secretary of the Kogi State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.
Governor Bello stressed the need for corps members’ employers to receive and treat them like their staff, empowering them to give their best. He also highlighted the state’s tradition of rewarding excellent performance at the end of the service year, encouraging corps members to develop their orientation-acquired skills for outstanding rewards post-service.
In emphasizing the importance of security consciousness, Governor Bello advised the corps members to avoid late nights and steer clear of local politics in their host communities, stressing that security is a collective responsibility of the government and citizens alike.
He expressed appreciation to the management of the NYSC scheme in Kogi State, along with other collaborating agencies, for their role in ensuring the success of the orientation exercise. Governor Bello also wished the corps members success in their future endeavors.
Pastor Williams Adebimpe, the Kogi State Coordinator of the NYSC, also addressed the corps members, charging them to abide by the camp’s rules and regulations and to exhibit responsibility in their respective duty posts. She extended gratitude to Governor Bello and the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development for their valuable contribution to the success of the event.
