The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Osun Sector Command has reported a remarkable achievement as no loss of lives or road accidents was recorded in the state throughout the month of October. This news was disclosed by the Sector Commander, Henry Benamaisia, in a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, A. Useini, on Wednesday in Osogbo.

Benamaisia emphasized that out of the 432 individuals apprehended for various traffic infractions in October, 189 received education on safety-related issues. He lauded the collaborative efforts of the FRSC officers and the cooperation of road users, citing these as pivotal in achieving the milestone of zero fatalities.

Despite a singular accident, Benamaisia affirmed that the driver emerged unscathed, hailing it as a testament to the effectiveness of their efforts in ensuring safety on the roads.

The command’s commitment to the safety of lives and property was evident through the execution of 24 radio programmes and four television enlightenment campaigns. According to Benamaisia, the extensive media engagement was instrumental in disseminating safety information to the targeted audience.

Highlighting the shared responsibility in ensuring highway safety, Benamaisia stressed the importance of collective efforts in preventing accidents that could result in loss of lives and property.

In concluding, Benamaisia urged motorists to adopt defensive driving techniques as a proactive measure to avert unforeseen accidents on the highways. He underscored the necessity of a collective commitment to safety, reiterating that the prevention of accidents is a shared responsibility.
