The Ekiti State Police Command has launched an investigation into the alleged murder of a farmer by a deaf and mute individual within the deceased’s farm. The unfortunate incident transpired at the Ipole Farm Settlement, Agbado Ekiti, situated in the Ayekire Local Council Development Area on a Tuesday evening.
Evidently, the altercation arose when the late farmer, known simply as Sikiru (aka Badoo), confronted the deaf and dumb suspect, Sunday Alabi, for purportedly pilfering crops from his farm on a regular basis.
Reportedly, the suspect reacted aggressively, attacking the farmer with a machete and inflicting severe lacerations on his head as a repercussion for daring to challenge him. Sources revealed that Alabi nearly decapitated his victim, resulting in a distressing outcry for assistance that prompted nearby farmers to intervene, subdue Alabi, and subsequently deliver him to the authorities.
Confirming the distressing occurrence, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu, conveyed that the assailant is currently under police custody. He disclosed that thorough investigations into the heinous act have been initiated.
