Reports suggest that Manchester United could part ways with at least 10 players over the next two transfer windows in 2024.
It was evident that David de Gea, Fred, Dean Henderson, and Anthony Elanga’s departure from Old Trafford in the summer was just the beginning, as a further squad revamp is anticipated next year.
Erik ten Hag, the manager, is keen on reshaping the team within the next 12 months, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.
One player likely to leave is Jonny Evans, who will be out of contract next June and may not receive a new deal, especially as he turns 36 in January.
Raphael Varane could also be on the exit path after slipping down the pecking order this season. Ten Hag has shown a preference for Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire over the Frenchman in recent weeks.
Another potential area of change is the midfield, where more turnover is expected compared to the summer window.
Though Fred was the lone senior midfielder to depart, there is speculation that United could cash in on the experienced duo of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, both of whom are in their 30s.
In addition, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is in the final six months of his contract, with negotiations currently underway for a possible extension.
The situation in the goalkeeping department is also undergoing scrutiny, with back-up goalkeeper Tom Heaton and midfielder Hannibal Mejbri also seeing their contracts expire in 2024. While there is an option to trigger a 12-month extension to retain Hannibal, Heaton’s contract doesn’t have such a clause.
Amidst these changes, the fate of Anthony Martial, who is in the last six months of his current deal, remains uncertain. Having spent the last season on loan, he could be seeking a permanent move in the upcoming year.
Evidently, the upcoming transfer windows could witness significant rearrangements within the club’s roster, as Ten Hag prepares to make his mark on Manchester United’s squad.
