Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development Raises Concern Over Adolescent Healthcare Access

In a keynote address at the 23rd Biennial Conference of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Lagos Branch, the Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Toyin Oke-Osayintolu, highlighted the alarming lack of access to essential healthcare services among adolescents and young people in Nigeria.

The conference, centered on the theme “Investing in Adolescent and Young People’s Health, Education, and Well-Being,” shed light on the challenges faced by adolescents in Nigeria, including issues related to poverty, discrimination, violence, abuse, and exploitation, all of which significantly impact their emotional and physical well-being.

Oke-Osayintolu emphasized the vulnerability of this demographic, drawing attention to the pressing need for holistic support and intervention to address their healthcare needs. She also underscored the Ministry’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for youths, prioritizing their overall welfare and development.
