Vice President Shettima Leads National Economic Council Meeting in Abuja

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, is currently chairing a crucial meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) at the council chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The meeting, which commenced at 10:25 GMT, has drawn key figures from the economic and governance sectors to deliberate on strategies to bolster the country’s economic landscape.

Among the distinguished attendees are Minister of Finance, Wale Edun; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu; and Health Minister, Prof. Muhammad Ali-Pate. Furthermore, the notable presence of state governors including Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State, Uba Sani of Kaduna State, Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, and Alex Otti of Abia State underscores the significance of the meeting.

Deputy Governors from Enugu, Gombe, Kano, Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi, Borno, Osun, Oyo States, and others are also in attendance, signifying the broad spectrum of representation and the collective responsibility towards steering the country towards economic prosperity.

The NEC, a monthly statutory assembly, serves as a critical platform for evaluating the performance of the economy and devising pragmatic measures to stimulate growth. Moreover, it plays a pivotal role in providing essential counsel to the President on enhancing the welfare and livelihoods of Nigerian citizens.
