President Bola Tinubu has given his nod to the selection of Ambassador Desmond Akawor as a Federal Commissioner of the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC). The appointment is subject to the confirmation of the Nigerian Senate.
A statement released by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, on Thursday, disclosed that the new RMAFC Federal Commissioner, representing Rivers State, has been appointed following the untimely passing of the immediate past commissioner from the state, Hon. Asondu Wenah Temple, earlier this month.
Akawor brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Korea, Minister of State of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Sole Administrator of the Greater Port Harcourt Development Authority, CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority, and Executive Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (Engineering & Technical Services).
The President has entrusted the new commissioner with the task of leveraging his extensive experience across different levels of government to drive a comprehensive overhaul of processes aimed at ensuring the most efficient and productive allocation utilization for all three tiers of government.
