The House of Representatives has called on the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company to restore electricity supply to Shinkafi/Zurmi Federal Constituency of Zamfara.

This followed the adoption of a motion by Bello Shinkafi (APC-Zamfara) during plenary in Abuja on Thursday.

Presenting his motion, Mr Shinkafi said in the last seven years, the people of the area had been off from the national grid resulting in darkness.

He said the economic activities of the people had been negatively affected by the seven- year power outage.

Adopting the motion, the House urged the Ministry of Power to direct the Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company operating in the state to restore electricity to the area.

The House also called on the regulatory authority to facilitate economic activities and improve the quality of livelihood of the people of the area.
