In a recent interview, Oluwagbemiga Olakunle Eludire, the Chairman of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) in Osun State, emphasized that the ongoing strike is solely aimed at advocating for the rights of its members. Eludire clarified that the union’s action is not targeted against the embattled Chief Judge of the state, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo, and that the strike will persist until further directives are issued.

Asserting the union’s independent stance, Eludire dismissed any attempts to undermine their cause by the national body of JUSUN, stating, “The statement of the National Headquarters of JUSUN is unwarranted. To the best of my knowledge, our common interests and the improved working conditions of our members ought to be paramount.”

Eludire further added, “We are fighting a good cause and it is to the satisfaction of our members. At this juncture, the JSC should intervene and sit on all our demands for necessary attention.”

Refuting any allegations of illegality, Eludire emphasized, “We have not done anything contrary to law. We believe that a drastic issue deserves drastic action and that is why you see us in this condition.”

Highlighting the progress in their protest, Eludire mentioned, “The conference of Judges approached the union for a dialogue and rooms have been opened for that.”

Notably, the JUSUN national body, through a circular signed by its Deputy President, Emmanuel Abioye, had cautioned against participation in any illegal picketing, protest, or similar activities. Additionally, it urged the judiciary staff in the state to refrain from being influenced by political agendas.
