The Senate Committee on Women Affairs (SCOWA) has issued a call for national collaboration to eliminate the pervasive issue of violence against women and girls in Nigeria.

During the launch of The OrangeNIGERIA project, Senator Ireti Kingibe, the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Women Affairs, emphasized the critical need for unified action to address this pressing concern.

Keying on the urgency of the matter, Kingibe underscored the project’s mission to uproot the deep-seated causes of gender-based violence (GBV) through a concerted, all-encompassing approach, placing particular emphasis on education and community involvement.

Providing insight into the project’s core objectives, Kingibe articulated, “The essence of this groundbreaking initiative is to imbue individuals with the strength to confront violence by fostering meaningful dialogue and understanding.”

Expounding on the national importance of the project, she asserted, “This initiative transcends the realm of the Senate; it is a clarion call to all Nigerians.”

“It is imperative that we unite to construct a society where every individual experiences security, has a voice, and is esteemed,” Kingibe added.

The Senate and SCOWA beckon upon citizens, grassroots organizations, and corporate entities to join forces in this transformative journey. United, they aspire to mould a future where gender-based violence is obliterated, and where the fundamental principles of equality and mutual respect reign supreme.
